Children were on song as they brought some festive cheer to shoppers.

Pupils from Christ Church CofE and Waterville primary school sang carols in The Beacon Shopping Centre, North Shields, over a two-day period last week.

It was part of a range of festive activities for all the family taking place at the shopping centre throughout December.

Santa has been in his Grotto every weekend with a free gift for every child who visits. Donations of £1 per child have been made, with all the proceeds going to the North Shields Fishermen’s Mission.

The Beacon has teamed up with North Tyneside Council to offer free parking in its multi-storey car park until December 24.

Dave Menzies, centre manager, said: “The Beacon is at the heart of North Shields and at this important time of year we wanted to show our continued support and give everyone a chance to get involved.”
