Youngsters at a borough school have raised more than £1,500 for charity with a ‘Race for Life ‘event.
Pupils at Denbigh Community Primary School in Howdon took part in the event and were sponsored by their families and friends, which raised £1,575 for the charity.
PE co-ordinator Kathryn Rogers said: “We chose this charity because we feel that cancer is something that affects everyone at some stage in their lives.
“The children designed their own race numbers and wore them with pride on the day, their enthusiasm was second to none, and they all did an amazing job of getting sponsorship. Thank you to everyone who donated.”
