Recognition for charity as one of the best places to work

A BOROUGH charity has been named as one of the best places to work in a national list.

Age UK North Tyneside has been awarded a Best Companies one star accreditation and a place on The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies – Places to Work in the Public/Third Sector.

Elaine Inglis, head of corporate support at Age UK, said the organisation was delighted to have gained a place on the list.

“As you can imagine we are extremely proud of this accolade,” she said.

“This is lovely for the staff here to have this news, but also what an achievement for this borough to have a company listed in this prestigious listing.

“It all helps to raise the profile of North Tyneside and the north east.”

Age UK North Tyneside is based at the Bradbury Centre in Saville Street Wes, North Shields, and works to help people retain their individuality, independence and dignity.

Ms Inglis added: “We want a society in which every person over 50 can lead a fulfilling, independent and productive life.

“This includes being valued and respected by the community in which they live.”

The new Best Companies list has been set up to recognise those public and charitable organisations that have created a truly outstanding place to work.

Best Companies accreditation follows on from the elite ‘Michelin style’ star rating system for organisations that demonstrate high levels of employee engagement.

Based on staff feedback, organisations receive an index score which determines their star rating compared to a fixed standard – one star is first class, two stars are outstanding and three stars are extraordinary.
