Report failure to repair potholes

UNDER Section 56 of the Highways Act 1980, anyone can inform the council (in writing by recorded delivery) to take action on any ‘road that is out of repair’.

Failure to repair such a road in a reasonable time can lead to the council being summoned to the magistrates court and being fined.

The penalty can be more than the cost of the repair.

And I’m sure the police would welcome any addition to their limited funding.
