A painting of North Shields dating from the 19th century is expected to fetch more than £10,000 at auction next week.

Newcastle-born landscape painter Thomas Miles Richardson Snr’s view of the Tyne, left, showing the Low Light at North Shields and a paddle tug and sailing ships is believed to date back to about 1830.

The oil on canvas, measuring 69cm by 89cm, is expected to go for between £10,000 and £15,000 when it is put on sale on Tuesday at Anderson and Garland in Westerhope, Newcastle.
