SIGHTSEERS are being given one last chance to enjoy a river cruise with lunch thrown in this summer.
An extra date has been added to the Shields Ferry’s schedule of fish-and-chip trips on the Tyne due to demand.
The two-hour cruise, organised by Nexus, will take place a week tomorrow – and after that, the trips will have had their chips, for this season, at least.
The outing departs from the South Shields ferry landing at 2pm before calling at North Shields Fish Quay to pick up fish and chips.
The ferry then makes its way up the Tyne as passengers enjoy lunch while listening to a commentary by TV presenter John Grundy.
Shields Ferry manager Carol Timlin said: “The fish-and-chip cruises have surpassed all our expectations, and we’re delighted to be announcing an extra date.
“This is the first year we’ve run these trips, and they have been a resounding success with passengers.”
