A charity is sailing away with the proceeds of a fun day organising by a boat club.

Tynemouth Model Boat Club, based at the lake in Tynemouth Park, held its annual open day last month.

And this year officials decided to support the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation with money raised by members and visitors’ donations, a bring-and-buy stall, and a sponsored walk through Tynemouth.

Club members enjoyed displaying their model boats on stands and by taking part in various competitions on the water.

The day happily coincided with the ‘Dog Oscars’ competition in the park.

The club thanked all visitors for coming along and for their donations which raised the unexpected total of £1,500.

Club members enjoy talking to interested visitors every Sunday at the lake and children are more than welcome to look at the models and ask questions.
