School closed after thieves steal copper wire from boiler

A North Shields school has been forced to stay closed on Monday after copper wire was stolen from the premises.

Whitehouse Primary School has been left without any water or electric after thieves targeted the school boiler room over the weekend.

North Tyneside Council’s maintenance partners Kier are currently working on the school to carry out the repairs, which are hoped will be completed by tomorrow.

The incident was reported to Northumbria Police and anyone with any information is urged to contact them on the 101 non emergency number.
