School leavers to get careers advice at event

School leavers and young people in south east Northumberland are being invited to discuss training, apprenticeships, careers courses and self-employment during a special event in Blyth.

The ‘Careers Information Day’ is organised by Northumberland County Council’s employability and skills and youth services teams.

The event will run on Friday, August 30, from 11am to 3pm, at the Isabella Centre in Blyth, and those attending will be able to meet qualified and experienced advisors to discuss the options and opportunities available.

Representatives from a range of organisations will be on hand to explain about the employment and training opportunities on offer and provide help filling in application forms.

Referral to agencies and interviews may also be arranged at the event.

Coun Robert Arckless, Northumberland County Council’s policy board member for children’s services, said: “As young people leave school or college this summer and prepare for the next step we hope events such as this will be an invaluable source of information for them.”
