Staff and pupils at a Whitley Bay school were celebrating their best ever performance in their SATs.
Year 6 students at Marden Bridge Middle School scored highly across the board in reading, writing and mathematics.
And staff put the improved performance down to lessons being exciting, with challenge and purpose to help children succeed.
Pupils had also been given specific goals to work towards.
Headteacher John Newport said: “I am extremely proud of the results and the way the pupils have worked, they deserve this success. Results as a whole are above national expectations for children of this age, there have been significant improvements.”
As a reward for their efforts all Year 6 pupils were taken for a day to an outdoor activity center where they experienced high ropes skills and team work games.
