The North Tyneside and Coastal Fundraising Branch of Guide Dogs has been out and about raising funds to help blind and partially sighted folk become more independent with the help of amazing guide dogs.
On August 30, £110.88 was collected at the Playhouse Whitley Bay before the evening performance. Then on September 6, £219.77 was raised in a bucket collection at Iceland, again in Whitley Bay.
We would like to say a sincere thank you to everyone who contributed so willingly and who showed such an interest in the dogs.
National Guide Dog week this year runs from October 4 to 12. If anyone would like to lend a hand we would be so grateful.
You can get more by ringing the Newcastle Mobility office on 0845 372 7423 or logging on to www.guidedogs.org.uk/microsites/guide-dogs-week/
There is to be a huge collection in Newcastle from October 9 to 12 and it is a case of all hands on deck with, of course, the added attraction of meeting some of our faithful dogs, their blind owners, Guide Dog staff and our wonderful volunteers.
If you don’t fancy holding a bucket there are other ways you can help – act as a buddy to guide a blind person to their spot, give out stickers, etc.
With sincere thanks once more for your continued support and look forward to seeing you again soon when I shall be accompanied, as always, by my now very well known princess - guide dog Yana.
