Two sopranos from the borough are preparing to don their running shoes to take part in the Great North Run to raise funds for charity.
And the two singers, from the Cantoris Chamber Choir, will also be raising money from a special musical evening in Cullercoats next weekend.
Rachel Bayley and Emma Clinch will be performing on Saturday, September 14, in St George’s Church in Cullercoats, in a concert of choral music by Haydn, Vaughan Williams, Mozart and Stanford.
And then the next morning the duo will take part in the Great North Run.
Emma said: “Cantoris conductor Stephen Pettitt has offered the proceeds of the concert to our respective charities, Hospice Care and the Children’s Heart Foundation.
“It’s very generous.
“We just need a full house at the concert now to raise as much money as we can.”
The concert will start at 7.30pm on Saturday, September 14, and tickets are priced at a minimum donation of £5 and are available by calling(0191) 253 4716 or on the door on the night.
