Air cadets from Longbenton were joined by the High Sheriff of Tyne and Wear George Scott as they celebrated winning the Lees Trophy.
The youngsters and adult volunteers celebrated being named the best air cadet squadron in the UK in style with a traditional, formal dining-in night and an evening of fine dining and light entertainment.
After a welcoming soft drink reception the guests were served a four-course meal before getting to the speeches.
Squadron Commander, Flight Lieutenant Gary Richardson, said: “I am exceptionally proud to lead Longbenton Squadron, but more so to know and work with an amazing group of people.
“We won the Lees Trophy because of who we are. We have shared so many incredible moments and these will last as memories, with our place in history cemented by winning the Lees Trophy.”
