THE glitz and glam of Strictly Come Dancing is coming to Newcastle this month, as the hit TV show comes to the Metro Radio Arena.
A host of the celebrity dancers are pulling on their posh frocks and tuxedos and waltzing back on to the dance floor when the national tour starts on January 18.
And television favourite Fern Britton is looking forward to being reunited with her dance partner Artem Chigvintsev and the rest of the Strictly family.
She said: “It’s like being on a school trip, everyone is so lovely, and Artem is a really nice guy, we are friends and I’m looking forward to seeing him.
“I am going into the unknown, I never thought I would be on a national tour dancing, but I am looking forward to it.”
Rehearsals for the tour start on Monday, and although the TV host knows what she is dancing, she is keeping it under wraps as a surprise for the audience.
She added: “We are doing two dances that we have done on the programme, and they are two that are quite different to each other, and I am really looking forward to dancing them again.”
Aside from the part of Strictly Come Dancing the viewers see on the BBC One hit show, Fern also has fond memories of the behind the scenes actions, including make-up, and seeing her outfit for the first time in rehearsals.
“One of the most thrilling things was when I was wearing my latin shoes and they were comfortable.
“I’ve learned to walk in heels again.”
To sum up her experience on the dance show she describes it as magical, emotional, glittery, frustrating, extraordinary and a rollercoaster.
“If I could do it all again I would,” she added.
Fern, along with Strictly winner Louis Smith, finalist Denise Van Outen and other contestants will be at the Metro Radio Arena on Tuesday January 2, Wednesday January 23 and Thursday January 24. For more information and ticket details visit www.strictlycomedancinglive.com
