Footballers at a local school have been celebrating after receiving new kit from the Premier League.
The pupils at Monkseaton High School were given new strips thanks to the Premier League Players’ Kit Scheme, which has teamed up with Nike to provide more than 2,000 junior teams over the past three years.
Assistant Headteacher Kerry Davison said: “We are absolutely delighted to have received these fantastic new strips.
“It will be great for the school and the players to be able to wear new kit and hopefully this will further motivate students to continue to participate or get involved in the game.
“We have a strong tradition of football at Monkseaton and encourage as many students as possible to engage with the sport.”
The kits are being sent to schools, further education institutes and district representative sides.
Premier League Chief Executive Richard Scudamore said: “The thrill of getting a new school kit and the chance to wear the Premier League badge on their shirt, will hopefully motivate children to continue to participate in sport, football or otherwise.”
