Youngsters put their heads together to come up with a unique way to raise money for a charity supporting their peers.

Students at Cullercoats Primary School, in Marden Avenue, took part in a Bobble Hat day last Friday.

Every student was encouraged to design a bobble hat of their choice to help raise money for the NSPCC charity.

Teachers said the youngsters showed great enthusiasm for the event and were delighted to showcase their artistic flair.

And at the end of the event, the school raised £550 for the good cause.

A spokesman for the school said: “The children had a great day, and there was a prize for the two best hats in KS1 and KS2.”
