STUDENTS have raised more than £120 for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Pupils on the social and vocational foundation learning course at Wallsend’s Tyne Metropolitan College held a coffee afternoon to raise the cash after hearing that the father of one of their support workers had recently become blind.

Charity official Ann Wilson, accompanied by her guide dog Miller, collected the cash from the college.

Christine Thompson, head of preparation for life and work at the college, said: “We are grateful to Ann for coming in and telling the students how their money would be used.”
