A WORLD renowned mountain film festival will call into North Tyneside next month as part of its largest world tour to date.
The Banff Mountain Film Festival (BMFF) offers audiences films that take them around the globe alongside some extraordinary adventurers.
BMFF is an international film competition hosted by The Banff Centre, based in the Canadian Rockies, that accepts more than 300 entries every year.
Following the original screenings that take place every autumn, 25 award-winning films and audience favourites are selected for the world tour.
Among the titles to be played in the UK is Crossing the Ice, a tale of two Australians who set off across the ice in a bid to be the first adventurers to walk unsupported from the coastline of Antarctica to the South Pole and back again; and Ndizotheka, a tale about two men from opposite corners of the ear, united by a common dream, to be the first to paraglide from Mount Mulanje, Malawi’s highest peak.
Now in its fourth year, the tour will also give audiences the chance to win some prizes.
Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour will be at the Playhouse Whitley Bay, on Saturday, February 2, at 7.30pm.
Tickets priced at £12.50 are available by calling the box office on 0844 277 2771, calling into the Playhouse, or visiting www.playhousewhitleybay.co.uk
