A NEW quotations system is being introduced by North Tyneside Council to help businesses in the borough bid for contracts.

The quick quotes system will simplify the quotation procedure for supply of goods and services to the council below the value of £50,000.

The new system will automatically select two quotations at random from North Tyneside suppliers registered on an e-portal.

Businesses wanting to bid for work can register online at www.nepoportal.org

Businesses already registered need to log onto the e-portal and update their companies’ profiles.

To explain the system to businesses, the council is holding information events this week and next.

One will take place today from 4.30pm to 6pm at the council’s Quadrant headquarters at Cobalt Business Park in North Shields.

The next will follow next Thursday from 12.30pm to 2pm at the White Swan Centre in Killingworth.

The events will include a demonstration and question-and-answer session, plus help to register or update accounts.

To arrange to attend, call Anne Holmes on (0191) 643 6476 or Clare Luery on (0191) 643 5748 or e-mail them at anne.holmes@northtyneside.gov.uk or clare.luery@northtyneside.gov.uk

The new system is only for contracts handed out directly by the council.
