A talented teenager from Whitley Bay is taking to the stage this week as part of a new production.
Monkseaton High School pupil Amonik Melaco has been chosen as one of only 16 boys to perform alongside the professional dancers in Matthew Bourne’s Lord of the Flies at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal until Saturday, November 8.
The 13-year-old was selected from more than 300 audtionees for the role
Lord of the Flies is a thrilling new large-scale dance spectacular choreographed by Olivier-nominated Scott Ambler, adapted and directed by Matthew Bourne and Scott Ambler, and based on the classic novel by William Golding.
The action is transferred from deserted island to deserted theatre and sees a group of schoolboys find themselves abandoned. With no adults around, they start to make their own rules.
