A North Tyneside taxi firm has trained more than 120 drivers with bespoke training from Northumberland College.
When taxi operator Blueline needed to recruit new drivers in order to supply its unmet demand for taxis they decided the recruitment process would provide the ideal opportunity to also incorporate an element of customer service training for its drivers.
Frank Sims, operations manager of Blueline, said: “We were looking for training in customer service, dealing with difficult situations and also knowledge based training.
“Over the past 12 months we have developed the training programme significantly into a flexible roll-on roll-off programme that has trained over 120 drivers.”
George Swift, a new driver at Blueline, said: “The whole process was fabulous, from starting the course last September to driving for Blueline only took four weeks.
“The training was a great experience.”
