A new approach is being launched to help residents get active.

North Tyneside Council’s sport and leisure team are visiting shopping areas and community venues to offer residents advice on how to be more active

They will be at Wallsend Forum and The Killingworth Centre on November 14; North Shields Customer First Centre on November 17; The Langdale Centre, Wallsend, on November 18, and The Oxford Centre, Longbenton on November 19.

Coun Lesley Spillard, whose cabinet portfolio includes public health, said: “Being more active is the best thing you can do for your health. It helps fight disease and stress, increases energy, makes us feel good and is a great way to meet people.

“Sometimes it can be a bit daunting to get started, but with the help of residents we are working to develop a range of activities which will really support people to take those first steps.”
