Whilst I fully support the council’s initiative to reduce electricity consumption and reduce our carbon footprint, by the introduction of new bulbs and variable lighting levels, Coun John Stirling is stretching the imagination and truth when he says ‘Trials have shown that people find that the new lights whiter, more energy-efficient, give a better light and appear brighter than the yellow tinged lights they’ll be replacing’.
The lights look greenish to grey, and seem to be about quarter power than the old ones.
The article says that the lights are dimmed by 40 per cent after midnight.
On the Red House Estate, West Monkseaton, it would suggest that is also not true, and they are possibly on the dimmed setting all evening. Tell us the truth please.
