THOUSANDS of pounds has been raised for a cancer unit which supported a man through his treatment.
Terry Wood held a fundraising night at the Cullercoats Crescent Club in aid of the Northern Oesophagal Gastric Cancer unit at Newcastle’s RVI.
And at The Sportsman in Preston Village, he presented a cheque for £5,415 to surgeon Nick Hayes and members of the cancer team.
Terry, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 undergoing surgery last March, wanted to do something to say thanks to the team and help future cancer patients.
Around 200 people attended the fundraising night which included a live band, raffle and auction officiated by Featonby.
Terry said: “I want to thank everyone for their kind support and contributions for the raffle and auction prizes.”
