STUDENTS from Whitley Bay High School impressed potential employers during interview skills sessions held at St James’ Park.
A total of 18 regional businesses – including IT, engineering, recruitment, training, leisure and sales firms – staged mock interviews for more than 360 Year 11 pupils.
For many pupils it was their first taste of an interview situation, with some impressing employers so much they were offered real jobs.
Teacher Pamela Tatters said: “This event has been about the students taking responsibility and moving out of their comfort zone in order to prepare them for the reality of entering the workplace.
“We cannot thank the employers enough for giving this opportunity to young people who have gained so much from this experience.”
