ON Thursday, February 9 at about 9.30am my mother collapsed in Beaumont Drive near to Earnshaw Way.
I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to the army of strangers who went out of their way to assist and comfort her whilst waiting over an hour for an ambulance to attend.
Apparently, due to the cold conditions on that morning, the ambulance service could not cope with the demands, hence the delay in their response.
Passing motorists, a postman, a council worker, residents and a doctor from a nearby practice all played a part in keeping her warm and comforted her.
A special mention to the lady from Earnshaw Way who supplied pillows and hot water bottles and the lady motorist who, despite having her small child in the car, stayed with my mother throughout her ordeal.
As I write this my mother is still in hospital but improving daily. She has little recollection of the incident or its cause. On her behalf could I pass on a sincere thank you to everyone.
