Macmillan Cancer Support is on the lookout for daredevils willing to take part in a fundraising fire-walk.
To mark the charity’s 100th anniversary, it is hoping 100 people will take part in the event on Tuesday, November 22.
Those taking part will be asked to hotfoot it over burning embers at the Newcastle Building Society car park at Cobalt Business Park in North Shields, and friends and family are invited to go along and watch.
Blueline Taxis owner Ian Shanks is sponsoring the event for a third year in a row and is encouraging his staff to take part.
Ian said: “I know so many people who have needed help from Macmillan, my friends and some of the drivers.
“Thankfully, my family haven’t needed to have Macmillan’s support but knowing how valuable it is, we really wanted to give something back.”
Fundraising manager Kelly Knighting-Wykes said: “Last year’s fire-walk was fantastic, and we raised almost £9,000.
“We are really looking forward to the event and are so grateful for the support we have been given.”
Registration for the event is £10, and participants are asked to raise a minimum of £75 in sponsorship.
