Thousands greet the Queen in North Tyneside – Video

THOUSANDS of people turned out to see the Queen officially open the new Tyne Tunnel today.

Schoolchdildren were joined by air cadets from 2334 Longbenton squadron and fusiliers from the Fifth Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers as Queen Elizabeth II gave a speech and unveiled a plaque to mark the opening of Tyne Tunnel 2.

It was 45 years since she opened the first tunnel on the site.
