Thousands turn out for second annual VW festival –Video

CLASSIC VW Beetle and camper enthusiasts descended on Tynemouth at the weekend for the second annual classic VW rally.

Thousands of people headed to the Tynemouth Classic VW Festival, where hundreds of campervans and Beetle cars were on display at Priors Haven.

Event organisers say the festivalwas twice as big as the first one last year, with more than 150 campers and Beetles on display.

Visitors were able to get up close to the vehicles and chat to the owners before casting their votes on the best camper and car.

Later in the afternoonprizes were given for the People’s Choice Award, GlamperVan/Bling Bug, and Kitchen in a Camper.

The festival ended with an impressive convoy of vintage vehicles cruising along the seafront from Tynemouth Priory to St Mary’s Lighthouse in Whitley Bay and back again.
