Time is being called on troublemakers at a Wallsend pub thanks to the purchase of new equipment.
Officers from Wallsend Neighbourhood Policing team has been working closely with staff and management of Manhattans bar, in High Street, to put an end to alcohol related anti-social behaviour.
As members of the Pubwatch scheme Manhattan’s bar has invested in Body Worn Cameras for staff to wear and record any incidents involving troublesome customers which can then be shared with police.
Wallsend Neighbourhood Inspector Mark Storey said: “We are constantly looking at new ways to reduce anti-social drunken behaviour in Wallsend town centre and make it an even safer place for people to come and enjoy a night out.
“The cameras will complement the regular walk-throughs by officers and support police with incidents of crime and disorder.
“I’d encourage other licensees to get involved in their local scheme as it really does carry a lot of benefits and ensures our communities remain safe places for people to enjoy themselves.”
