The event on Saturday, August 8, saw visitors able to try events including gymnastics, aerobics, cycling and circuit training.

Thrive, led by the Crown Estate, is a nationwide health and wellbeing initiative to show local people what is available in their area to help them get more active.

And among the hundreds of people who attended were Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell, Mayor Norma Redfearn and councillors Lesley Spillard, Alison Waggot-Fairley, Dave McGarr and Jeannette Pickard.

Visitors to the park were put through their paces by Abby’s Theatre and Dance Company, Solo Martial Arts and fitness instructors working with North Tyneside Council Contours and Healthy For Life.
