AN OPTOMETRIST from Whitley Bay will be donning her running shoes in aid of charity.

Tracy Moulding, manager of Robinson Optometrists in Monkseaton, is taking part in the London Marathon on Sunday, April 21, in aid of blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan.

Tracy was meant to be joined on the 26-mile run by her colleague Lorna Bourne, whose husband Derek received a bone marrow transplant through the charity two years after he was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2008.

The ladies have raised more than £4,000 for the charity so far, but Lorna has had to pull out of the event to care for Derek in hospital as the disease has returned.

Tracy, 48, of Whitley Bay, said: “I would like to thank everybody who has donated for the race.

“It really is a fantastic charity.”
