Today (Thursday), from 4.45pm to 6.45pm, the North Tyneside Public Transport Users Group will meet to discuss important issues, which include the ending of the Deutsche Bahn Metro contract after the recent run of breakdowns and delays and the Great North Run debacle.
We look forward to our councillors on the North East Combined Authority (NECA) endorsing the Nexus plan next week to take our Metro back in house after April 2017, and to return to the reliable running we had when it was run not for profit by Nexus.
Our meeting is to also discuss the local group’s submission for North East Combined Authority Transport plans for the next 20 years, called Our Journey, to which anyone can respond to online.
We will also be reporting back on our work about bikes on the Metro, air pollution and meetings with Metro management.
And anyone who would like to attend and participate, or help in our work, please contact myself, Vicki Gilbert, secretary, at firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone (0191) 289 4241.
