METRO services between Tynemouth and Byker will be suspended this weekend as part of the £385m development work.
On Saturday and Sunday the line will be closed with a replacement bus service in operation.
It will stop at or close to all stations within the affected area.
Managing director of Metro operator DB Regio Tyne and Wear, Richard McClean, said: “Inconvenience to passengers will be kept to a minimum as essential engineering work is carried out to the network.”
Normal service will resume on Monday, April 18.”
