A TYNEMOUTH pupil has picked up two awards for her acting talents, her first time treading the boards.

Minnie Holford, 14, won the Davison Cup for sight reading and came second in the solo acting at the Ryton Speech and Drama Festival.

Minnie, a Year 9 pupil at The King’s School in Tynemouth, said: “I’m really pleased at winning the cup but also at coming second in the solo acting.

“I read an extract from ‘The Dreams of Anne Frank’.

“It was very emotional recreating the fear and yet a sense of adventure at the beginning of what Anne felt was an adventure.”
