Tynemouth Watch House custodian will be greatly missed

Have your say

So sad to read of the loss of Bill Scott, the curator and custodian of the Tynemouth Watch House.

Bill was a mine of information about the history of Tynemouth and the Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade.

Thousands of visitors were enthralled by his wonderful sea-faring stories. If they were very lucky he would even sing a few sea shanties.

We took friends and family from all over the world to the Watch House numerous times and they were all enchanted by him.

The Watch House is a very special place, made even more so by Bill.

We sincerely hope that (thanks to Bill) the Watch House gets the recognition it deserves.

Our condolences to his family.

A truly lovely and interesting man who will be greatly missed.

He is a Tynemouth treasure.
