A village was turned pink as a community came together for a fund-raising drive.

Organisers praised the ‘exemplary communal spirit’ as Tynemouth was turned pink to raise money for the Beast Cancer Campaign event.

The Paint the Town Pink event reached a peak on Friday, October 24.

Organised by Fezziwigs, the town was dressed in pink ribbons and balloons with more than £1,055 raised so far.

Local businesses were keen to get involved including the Grand Hotel, Eastcoast Taxis, Three Wishes, and Ruby and Frank Boutique.

They all held donation collection points and sold raffle tickets, with staff being dressed in pink attire.

The Dill & The Bear also baked some beautiful cakes, which went down a treat.

A spokesperson said: “Fezziwigs would like to say a big thank you to all involved and hope next year can be an even greater success.”
