An organisation supporting groups in the community is to hold its AGM, featuring a special guest
North Tyneside VODA is preparing to hold its AGM and Awards Ceremony, with guest speaker Alex Swallow, founder of the Young Charity Trustees organisation, lined up.
It will take place on Thursday, October 29, from 10am at the Shiremoor Centre, Earsdon Road, Shiremoor.
Alex, who will talk about the importance of organisations having a diverse board, said: “The current average age of Trustees in this country is 57 – we are on a mission to bring it down.
“I have a particular interest in Board Diversity and supporting young people to become trustees and make a difference so I’m really looking forward to speaking at VODA’s AGM about this subject and finding out more about the work that VODA does.”
VODA is a local support agency for volunteers and the voluntary and community sector. As well as a presentation of its annual report, the AGM will also include the presentation of VODA’s Awards in three categories: VCS Organisation of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Young Volunteer of the Year.
VODA’s chief executive Lisa Goodwin said: “We’ve been working hard to encourage more young people in our borough to become trustees of local organisations this year so I’m really looking forward to hearing Alex Swallow talk about this subject.
“And we’ve had some wonderful nominations in for this year’s awards so I’m sure the presentation of those will be as inspiring as ever.”
Everyone is welcome to attend VODA’s AGM but places must be booked. Contact VODA on (0191) 643 2626 or email Kathryn.firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your place.
