A team from homelessness charity Depaul UK has been giving Weetslade Country Park, near Dudley, a facelift by removing ragwort.

Led by Northumberland Wildlife Trust’s new volunteer estates officer, Angus Walker, the team collected three acres’ worth of ragwort at the North Tyneside Park in four hours.

Weetslade Country Park covers about 44 hectares, much of that land being a former pit spoil heap.

The site has been designed to integrate open space, wildlife habitats and recreational facilities.

It is owned by the Land Trust and managed by Northumberland Wildlife Trust.
