A project is seeking volunteers to help chronicle memories of Whitley Bay’s Spanish City Dome.
The Whitley Bay Big Local partnership is leading on a special scheme to collate and archive stories, pictures and other memorabilia of the Dome, and are looking for local residents to get involved.
The project will support North Tyneside Council’s work to secure funding for the planned restoration of the Spanish City Dome, and the results will also be displayed in the town.
Volunteers working on the project will receive three days of full training in the skills they’ll need to carry out the role.
Ray Taylor, of Whitley Bay Big Local, said: “This project is certain to attract a lot of interest both from those who would like to participate and from the local community excited to see the finished results.
“Whitley Bay evokes a lot of wonderful memories for people that we are extremely keen to capture and share with others.
“This project should bring together stories stretching back over many decades, and will help younger generations get a sense of how the town was in years gone by and enable those with fond memories to enjoy talking about and sharing their memories with others.”
