MOTORISTS have been forced to abandon their vehicles after some roads in Wallsend became severely flooded.
Dozens of cars were left at the roadside with owners deciding to walk home after monsoon conditions hit this afternoon.
One car was left floating at notorious flooding blackspot underneath the Walkergate Metro Station.
Local resident Gemma Marriner said: “All the roads are closed, I had to abandon my car and walk home, it was just dreadful.
“It is knee deep in some places. One car that was abandoned and the water was up to the roof – there was a dog swimming across the road.”
