I am writing in praise of the summer programme of events at Tynemouth Station organised by North Tyneside Council.
There is something for everyone from toddlers to retired members of our local community.
On Monday, July 28, I enjoyed The Vieux Carre Jazzmen perform on the eastbound platform as part of the ‘Jazz in the Afternoon’ series.
A crowd of between 30 to 40 people enjoyed the group, who performed a range of rags, blues and spirituals over three hours.
The weather was hot but the jazz was cool.
How delightful to see all ages from babies to octogenerians dancing and swaying to talented musicians under the gloriously restored station.
