A new-look £1.1m waterpark is set to open before the summer holidays finish.
Bosses at Wet ‘n’ Wild have announced that the doors will re-open in the first week of August following the refurbishment to turn it into a modern family leisure attraction.
The facility, opposite Royal Quays Outlet Centre in North Shields, closed last October after going into administration before being taken over by Moirai Capital Investments while Serco Leisure have been appointed to run the centre.
Around 56 new jobs have been created following the refurbishment, which includes a new and improved reception and entrance; a new café and catering area; an expansion of the changing facilities; a new soft play area for toddlers and younger children; and new improved external signage.
Serco Leisure has been recruiting for lifeguard, receptionist, cleaning and catering positions.
Wet ‘n’ Wild features more than one kilometre of slides including the hurricane, the kamikaze, the abyss and calamity canyon.
