Drinks will be flowing as a popular festival returns.

Tynemouth will play host to the north east’s own Whisky Festival, which will take place on Saturday, September 26.

The annual event – which attracted more than 400 people last year – has again been organised by Ben Chambers, owner of the Wine Chambers, whose two North Tyneside stores offer a range of whiskies, spirits, wine, champagnes and local real ales.

The event, held at the Park Hotel from 11am to 4pm, will feature more than 80 whiskies on the day as well as meeting representatives from the brands and the distilleries.

Ben Chambers, festival organiser, said: “Last year’s festival was a sellout and it was fantastic to see so many people come to the coast and enjoy sampling and talking about whisky.

“This year we will again have all the major distilleries displaying their whiskies as well as some of the more unusual and rare drams.”

Tickets are £25 and can be purchased from the The Wine Chambers, Front Street, Tynemouth, or call (0191) 258 5135.
