MY 89-year-old mum and I attend the Dog Oscars at Wallsend Park every year.
Last Saturday I took her along in her wheelchair only to find it had been moved to a new location at the north end of the park.
We proceeded to go down a very steep hill, mostly of broken Tarmac, then up the other side.
Just when I thought I wasn’t going to make it to the top a very kind lady gave me a hand, for which I’m very grateful to.
We reached the top only to find all stalls etc were on very long grass, so was out of bounds for the wheelchair.
After ten minutes we left the venue exhausted and very disappointed to say the least.
Why after four years on hard standing ground was it moved to grass this year? Never again.
