A leading home and garden retailer is set to open its newest store – with a special celebration event taking place.

Wilko will open the doors to its new Silverlink Store on Wednesday, at 9am.

The new store, which has taken over the former Next shop, has created 60 new jobs.

To mark the special occasion, Lucy King, from Alzheimer’s Society, will lead a ceremonial ribbon-cutting along with Wilko HR and talent director, Cath Fox, and Wilko Silverlink store manager, Mark Ternent.

And the first 100 customers through the door will receive one of 100 tickets to win a prize, including £20, £10 and £5 Wilko gift cards, as well as gifts including a Wilko faux fur throw, Wilko copper lantern and Wilko copper toaster.

The launch day activity will include tombola competition with more than 50 prizes up for grabs, stilt walkers handing out Bags for Life, and free hot chocolate for shoppers

Mark said: “The team is busy preparing the final touches to the store ahead of the official opening.

“We can’t wait to welcome customers to see our wide range of products.

“We know shoppers will be impressed by the quality and value we have to offer, it is the perfect time to come and browse our collections ready for spring”

“We’ve got lots of exciting things planned for the launch day including giveaways and competitions so we hope everyone can come and join us to celebrate Wilko’s new home at Silverlink Retail Park.”

Michael Bell, asset manager at The Crown Estate, owners of Silverlink Shopping Park, said: “We are really excited to see the arrival of Wilko at Silverlink. The new store is fantastic for the park, and is a great addition for our shoppers. We are sure Wilko will be hugely popular and we wish them every success with their new store.”
