Witness appeal after high value burglary

Police are appealing for information after a high value burglary in Wallsend.

Offenders broke into a vacant flat on High Street East between 8pm on Wednesday, December 2, and 6.45am on Thursday, December 3, before forcing entry into Daniel’s News below.

A large quantity of stock was stolen from the shop including alcohol, cigarettes, Lotto scratch cards, a laptop and cash.

Enquiries into the burglary are ongoing and anyone who has information to help is asked to contact police.

Wallsend Neighbourhood Inspector, Mark Storey, said: “We appeal to anyone who may have been in or around Wallsend High Street at the time of the burglary and have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact us.

“A large amount of spirits and cigarettes were stolen and we ask for anyone who may have been offered these items for sale recently to contact us.

“We also advise landlords of vacant properties to make sure windows and doors are left secure and are regularly checked.

“Extra officers are in the area carrying out enquiries and speaking to people.”
