A woman had her purse stolen in the street by two men.

The 59-year-old victim had been walking along Waterville Road, North Shields, at 7.55am on Tuesday, August 25, when she was approached by two men.

They threatened the woman and demanded she handed over her purse.

They then made off with her purse which contained cash and personal documents.

The men are described as being around 6ft tall. The first was wearing a dark blue/black hooded top, with the hood up. The second was wearing jeans and a hooded top.

Enquiries are ongoing into the robbery.
