A woman was robbed at knifepoint by two teenagers.

The 58-year-old victim was walking her dog in Barnwood Close, Wallsend between 6.15pm and 6.30pm on Monday, January 18.

She was approached by two male youths who demanded money, threatening her with a knife before making off with her purse.

The woman was left shaken by the incident but not injured.

The two offenders are described as being in their late teens and were wearing dark clothing with hoods up.

Detective Inspector Sharon Chatterton said: “We’re appealing to anyone who may have been in or around Barnwood Close at the time of the robbery and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact us.

“It’s believed a car was seen in Barnwood Close at the time of the robbery and we’re keen to speak to the driver of this car as they may have vital information to help as a key witness.

“Enquiries into the robbery are ongoing and we have extra officers in the area speaking with people and offering reassurance.

“We urge anyone who may have information to help to contact police straight away.”
