Motorists are being warned of overnight closures on a key road in North Tyneside.
A major milestone is set to be hit on North Tyneside Council’s A1056 Sandy Lane road improvement scheme.
A resurfacing programme is set to begin on Monday.
Overnight road closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am every weekday evening from Monday to Friday, June 2, with Sandy Lane closed between the A1056/B1318 junction to the west as far as the A189 Weetslade roundabout to the east.
The Sandy Lane/B1318 junction will remain open at all times to northbound and southbound traffic between and bus services through the junction will run as normal.
A council spokesman said: “We appreciate that road closures inevitably cause inconvenience and a degree of disruption to residents and other road users, so fully-signposted diversions will be in operation.
“The work is being done overnight, when traffic is at its lightest; Sandy Lane will be open as usual every day between 6am and 8pm – and will remain open at all times during each weekend.
“Residents and business owners on Sandy Lane will have access to their homes and workplaces preserved around the clock while the resurfacing work is completed.”
